When you advertise your award-winning lineup with awards from 2013 in 2020 , maybe your car needs an overhaul.

We should hear official word about the next generation by this fall if not sooner. My 2014 BRZ should hold out until then.

Would it be redundant to have a BRZ and a 240z at the same time? Asking for a friend.

Its like those restaurants that never take down their “Best of... Reader’s Choice” award banners, if its more than two cycles, ago take it down.

Not redundant at all.

Depends of course on how big the award is. If you were the best restaurant in a major city, then yeah, it’s still a mark of distinction, and not one you can expect to win every year. But if it’s like a top 100 list, that starts to feel a lot more stale if you can’t stay on it.

I’m talking about walking into a coffee shop with a faded sign from the local newspaper saying that they were rated best in the county in the year 2011 by an online poll of their readers. I mean, if its from 2018 or 2019, fine, that’s as relevant as any local news poll can be, but a lot of stuff can change in nearly a decade. Including things that might cause people to stop voting for you for 9 years.

I feel like putting “most exhilarating” and “ safest” next to each other kind of sucks the power out of both of those superlatives.

Did the BRZ ever have the “performance to match”?

Maybe I should have said official details/information. The successor has been confirmed but other than the fact that they are going to do a second generation, everything else is pure speculation.

Pulse-pounding
exhilarating
safest
most confidence-inspiring
Smoking hot looks and performance to match
- that list not only doesn’t seem to describe that car, but seems a fairly well schizophrenic list of descriptors.
At least one, (Safest), maybe two (confidence-inspiring) of those seem at odds with the other terms in the list.
Then, all but “Safest” seem to be at odds with a car that can barely muster enough torque to get out of it’s own way if the engine isn’t screaming. Maybe Safest doesn’t apply either, for a different reason, in terms of defensive driving.
